Goal 16 - Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions

Peace Tree

Big Idea

Pupils, teachers and visitors should be encouraged to think about a future without war, conflict and fear. All visitors, the whole school family, should reflect on a life in peace.

Through the action of deciding on the colour, formulating the wish, to knotting the ribbon on the tree, reflection takes place and a wish is manifested. The visualisation of the large number of participants also has a motivating and positively stimulating effect on the corporate identity.

What next

The tree and its cause can be discussed in advance in the group or class. Peace and its importance for the individual and our world can be thematised.

Finally

Afterwards, the group and classes can visit the tree and weigh up which colour was attached most often and again speculate why. In the end, the aim is to find out how these wishes and problems can be remedied, individually, in the family and in the community.

Wishing trees could also be established in each class individually to improve the community on a small scale.
